Thoughts

Thought module is the basis of eGuru. This is a CBT program. Although, this is based in self help, it goes beyond the traditional CBT apps that focus on a lot of audios or videos or are limited only to thought diaries. This module spreads over three weeks. During the first week you will learn how to recognize thoughts that are causing problems. The circle of thoughts will help you see how your thoughts, emotions, physical sensations and behaviours are linked with the events in your life.

After a brief teaching session to help you recognize thoughts and emotions the eGuru analyzes a recent event. It will ask you, “what happened?, what were you thinking?, what did you feel?, what physical sensations did you experience?, and what did you do in response to your thoughts, emotions or physical sensations?”.

Next the eGuru draws the circle of thought for you. This will help you to see how your emotions, thoughts, physical sensations and behaviours are linked.

The eGuru will ask you to set reminders at the end of the module. You can always change the reminders in main menu. Please try to fill your thought diary at least 3 times a day.

During the second week eGuru will teach you how to challenge your unhealthy thoughts that are causing distress and lead to difficult behaviours.

The eGuru will analyze a recent situation for you and will ask you to write the evidence for and against the thought that troubled you.

Third week: How to create a balanced thought

During the third week the eGuru will teach you how to create and alternative or balanced thought. Usually the alternative or balanced thought is not as distressing as the original unhelpful thought.

The eGuru again analyzes a recent situation and takes you in steps to the final aim of the thought module, i.e., to write down an “alternative or balanced thought”. This thought is saved in your “healthy thoughts” so you can go back and reflect on your healthy thoughts in future.

The eGuru will ask you to set reminders at the end of the module. You can always change the reminders in main menu. Please try to fill your thought diary at least 3 times a day.
